Commercial Insurance Claims Support

Commercial Insurance Claims Handled by the People Who Placed Your Cover

Notification, evidence and negotiation run from our Durham office by a named claims manager, not an insurer's call centre.

Commercial insurance claims are the only part of an insurance programme a client ever really tests. Everything before it is a promise about what happens on the day something goes wrong. Park handles every claim in house, so that promise is kept by the same people who made it.

What Usually Happens

Most Brokers Place the Policy and Hand You a Phone Number

The submission is made, the cover incepts, and the relationship goes quiet until renewal. Then a loss happens and the number you were given reaches an insurer’s claims line. The person who answers has never seen your premises, does not know what your contracts require, and is working from a policy schedule rather than an understanding of your business.

So you spend the worst week of your trading year explaining your own operation to a stranger, while the clock runs on business interruption and your customers wait.

That is not a failure of the insurer. It is a gap the broker left open.

How a Claim Runs Here

From First Notification to Settlement, in One Building

The same sequence runs whether the claim is a damaged machine, a liability allegation or a full business interruption loss. Nothing is passed out of the office.

Step 01

You call a person

You reach Colin Thompson or someone who sits with him, not a queue. One call opens the claim.

Step 02

Notification the same day

The insurer is notified immediately and correctly, because late or incomplete notification is where cover gets argued.

Step 03

We attend if it warrants it

Where the loss is significant, someone from this office is at your premises, not on a video call.

Step 04

Evidence assembled properly

Photographs, invoices, contracts and maintenance records, gathered before they go cold.

Step 05

The submission is built

The claim is presented to the insurer the way the risk was presented at placement, by people who know both.

Step 06

We argue the points

Where an insurer disputes indemnity, quantum or a warranty, that is argued here rather than accepted.

Step 07

You are kept informed

You are regularly updated about the progress of claims  without having to chase it.

Step 08

Settlement and review

The claim closes, and what it teaches goes into the next renewal rather than being forgotten.

The People in the Building

A Named Claims Manager, Not a Claims Line

Claims at Park are run by Colin Thompson, who has spent eighteen years doing this work, from the same Durham office as the brokers who placed your cover.

Colin Thompson has handled commercial claims for more than eighteen years and Ian Cooke has thirty-four years in insurance, leading operations and compliance. Paula Hunter and Ian Snowdon place the cover and stay on the account through a claim, so the person who presented your risk to the insurer is the person arguing it afterwards.

The Scope

The Claims We Run From Start to Finish

Property & material damage

Fire, flood, escape of water, impact and storm, including reinstatement scope and betterment arguments.

Business interruption

Indemnity period, gross profit calculation and the evidence an insurer will ask for to support it.

Liability and injury

Employers’ and public liability allegations, third-party damage, and the contract terms that decide who carries it.

Commercial motor & transit

Fleet incidents, goods in transit losses, recovery and third-party capture.

Claims You Arrive With

We Take On Unresolved Claims From Your Previous Broker

Moving broker usually means an open claim is left behind with the firm that is no longer being paid to care about it. Park takes those claims on, because an unresolved claim sitting on your record is a live cost. It affects your loss ratio, it affects what the market quotes you next year, and it is the kind of thing that only becomes visible at renewal when it is too late to fix.

We review what is open, take over the correspondence and manage it to settlement alongside anything new.

Between Renewals

A Claims Record Is Managed, Not Reported

Your claims record is what an underwriter prices next year. It is reviewed quarterly rather than left to surface three weeks before renewal, whether the cover sits on a single business insurance policy or across a corporate insurance programme.

Open claims tracked

Every open claim is reviewed quarterly, so nothing sits unattended on your record for a year.

Reserves challenged

An insurer’s reserve is an estimate. Where it overstates the likely settlement it is challenged, because your record carries it.

Renewal prepared early

What the year’s claims say about the risk is presented to the market by us, before an underwriter draws their own conclusion.

Common Questions

Commercial Insurance Claims, Common Questions

A:

Colin Thompson, our claims manager, working from Synergy House in Meadowfield with the brokers who placed your cover. Not an insurer's claims line and not an outsourced handler.

A:

The same day. Late or incomplete notification is one of the most common reasons cover gets argued, so it is the first thing that happens.

A:

Where the loss warrants it, yes, and from this office. County Durham, Tyne and Wear, Tees Valley and Northumberland are all within reach the same day.

A:

We take it on. Open claims are reviewed, the correspondence transfers to us, and they are managed to settlement rather than left behind.

A:

It depends on the claim, the reserve the insurer sets and how the record is presented at renewal. All three are managed rather than simply reported, which is the point of the quarterly reviews.

A:

Aviva, Intact, AXA, Allianz and Zurich among others, and the claims relationship is with our office rather than with you directly.
